A Lifetime of Memories, and a Home Worth Protecting
For Cheryl and George Neama, their home isn’t just a house—it’s a living memory. Family photos line the walls. Stories echo through every room. And for more than five decades, this home has been the place where life unfolded.
“My name is Cheryl… I’m George. I’m Cheryl’s husband.”
George’s journey began far from here.
“I was born and raised in Egypt. I was 17 years old when I came to the United States.”
By 1970, George made a life-altering decision.
“So I decided to join the military in 1970… and immediately I was sent to Vietnam in 1971.”
Cheryl grew up in the Midwest.
“I was born and raised in Great Bend, Kansas. We moved here in 1972. I grew up here and have loved it ever since.”
Together, they built a life—and a legacy—inside the same walls that Cheryl’s parents once called home.
“The home was built in 1967. My parents bought the house in 1972. In 1999, George and I purchased the house from our parents and have made it our own.”
When the Bathroom Became a Risk
Like many homeowners aging in place, the Neamas reached a moment when a once-functional bathroom became a daily challenge.
“I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.”
That diagnosis changed how Cheryl moved through her home—especially in the bathroom.
“So I decided I wanted a walk-in shower.”
But the concern wasn’t just about convenience. It was about safety—for both of them.
“Realizing that both of us are getting older, we both have disabilities, and it’s getting harder and harder to get into our bathtub… it would be nice to have a walk-in shower with a seat that we could actually take a shower and be safe in.”
The problem was clear: the tub they had used for decades was no longer serving them. It was standing in the way of staying independent in the home they loved.
Finding the Right Partner
Cheryl did what many homeowners do—she started online.
“I actually got online to look for the company that my sister had used. When I put the name in, it pulled up HomePride.”
That search led to a phone call—and then a visit.
“So I called them, and Mike came out and talked to us.”
What stood out wasn’t pressure or sales tactics. It was clarity.
“He showed us multiple samples of everything—the walls, the floor, everything. He helped us select what kind of hardware we would want.”
And for Cheryl, one detail mattered a lot.
“I love Kohler products, and that was all Kohler.”
With confidence in the products and the process, they decided to move forward.
“We decided that we’d give it a try.”
The Remodel Journey: More Work, Same Promise
Once the remodel began, surprises emerged—something many homeowners fear.
“We asked them to remove all of the tile in there. The entire walls were filled with tile all the way around.”
That meant more labor than expected.
“They ended up having to take the sheetrock off and put new sheetrock up. So that took extra time.”
But here’s where the experience changed from stressful to reassuring.
“They did do a lot of extra work. They were very, very nice about it. They didn’t charge us extra.”
The installation itself made a lasting impression.
“I would recommend HomePride anytime—with the condition of having Nick come over and do the installation. He worked his butt off.”
And then there was something Cheryl didn’t expect—but deeply valued.
“Nick gave us his cell phone and said, ‘I am your contact for any kind of issues.’”
That personal accountability mattered.
“If you have any problems, contact me, and I will take care of it for you. And I really liked that—to have a contact that we can get a hold of.”
Even after the job was done, the support remained.
“I never had a problem getting a hold of anybody to talk to them.”
A Safer Bathroom—and Peace of Mind
Today, Cheryl and George have a walk-in shower designed for safety, comfort, and long-term independence. It fits their home. It fits their needs. And it allows them to keep living where their memories live.
“So yes, I would recommend them.”
